Pilcrow
Sponsored by Nedbank and the Arts and Culture Trust
Pilcrow was the first endeavour in building 'Liquid Fusion Community'. Seven Wits University Drama students were involved in the performance, design and production elements of the piece, with three young theatre professionals making up the rest of the company. They were guided under the direction of a highly experienced theatre professional, Mwenya Kabwe. A space was created where sharing between students, young professionals and a seasoned professional could collaborate, learning from each other through the open sharing of knowledge and skills. This type of project is the basis of Liquid Fusion Community. To find out more, find the Liquid Fusion Community group on Facebook.
The show is about a writer who has lost his wife, and as a result, his words too. He struggles to come to grips with the realities of human expression and our fundamental deficiencies in the face of despair. Pilcrow is a dance play that explores the boundaries between spoken language and movement. Where words fail, what is left to say?
